Our 4-day Shark Dive Expedition at Aliwal Shoal puts you face-to-face with them: blacktip reef, ragged-tooth sharks and possibly the occasional tiger. This is real adventure. You'll learn presence, reverence, and how to work with your nervous system, so you can become a witness in an environment few have ever had the chance to experience.

By day we’ll explore your depth on a line, a freediving practice that takes you further than you'd ever expect, not through effort but through quiet presence. We’ll then put these skills into real-time application when being with sharks. Our ocean adventures include a full package of boats dives, educational and navigational briefings, safety instructions for offshore diving and boat launch procedures. Most notably we offer a specialist guidance on nervous system regulation for orientating your body language to connect with some of the world’s most ancient beings.

Safety First
Sharks are deeply misunderstood. Every interaction on this trip is designed to safely undo that reputation and conditioning. You'll learn how to stay respectful of their space, while minding your own.
Freediving teaches us to move alongside nature, rather than trying to overcome or conquer it. You'll learn agency, presence, and respect, because as humans, we forget we too are animals, and our bodies speak far more than our words. We witness. We do not enforce.
Every dive is professionally guided, safety-first! Our protocols have ensured zero accidental incidents at Aliwal shoal for divers of all levels!
Aliwal Shoal, a world class shark diving site:
Beneath the surface of the Aliwal Shoal lies a series of ancient sunken sand dunes. Here, roughly 6km offshore, the ocean does something it rarely does anywhere else! It is ranked among the finest shark diving sites on the planet for its compact reef system and concentration of predators… the 670 km² area has been environmentally protected with conservation status since before the democracy of South Africa was even born. Aliwal offers you an untouched history that you won’t find anywhere else!
At least six species move through these waters across the year: ragged-tooth sharks gather to breed from May through October, oceanic blacktips patrol year-round, tigers cruise through from February to April. Bull sharks, hammerheads, and whitetips complete a lineup that most divers spend a lifetime chasing.
It's the Agulhas Current that makes this diversity possible, sweeping nutritious smaller animals into closer range and drawing predators in. The Aghulus supports an entire ecosystem to thrive. The shoal's pinnacles and rock formations uniquely offers homes, hunting grounds, and landscapes for play to the entire ecosystem.
