Cape Point Coastal Forage & Wild Food Group Picnic

  • Discover the deep cultural and spiritual significance of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, where the Khoisan people lived for thousands of years.

    Visit the Origins of Early Southern Sapiens Behaviour Exhibition at the Cape Point Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre and explore groundbreaking discoveries about early human life in Southern Africa.

    Go rock pooling with a guide to learn about edible plants, seaweeds and molluscs, followed by an ancestral-inspired wild food feast on the fire.

    If there is bad weather, we can move the lunch to our Scarborough clay house venue bordering the Reserve.

  • This experience will introduce you to some of our local edible seaweeds and wild plants. Explore rock pools at low tide, and learn how to sustainably harvest and prepare seaweeds and indigenous plants.

Kelp Forest Snorkel Foraging Experience & Wild Food Lunch

  • WHAT TO BRING:

    ● Beach gear, rain jacket, slip-slops or booties (for coastal forage)

    ● Swimming Costume (for snorkelers)

    ● If you want to forage seaweed to take home with you, please bring a bucket, packet or basket, and scissors or a knife.

    ● A cooler box in your car is suggested for transporting your seaweed home.

    ● If you want to collect mussels to take home, please get a mollusc collecting permit at the post office or buy online:
